FAQs

  • Hormone Replacement Therapy / Testosterone Replacement Therapy.

This can also be referred to as BHRT Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy. The best way to maintain and optimize the body’s capacity for producing testosterone is to undergo testosterone replacement therapy.

Hormone replacement therapy is a medical treatment in which hormones are prescribed to compensate for below-average levels. Essentially, HRT works by giving the body a regulated series of hormone supplements that the body is either no longer producing or inadequately producing.

Despite your body's reduced production of testosterone, the androgen receptors remain fully capable of utilizing the available testosterone. With the supplementation provided by TRT, your testosterone levels can approach those experienced during your younger years.

When you commit to a TRT regimen supervised by certified professionals, it’s entirely possible to alleviate many, if not all, of the side effects of low testosterone for both men and women.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is a natural approach designed for individuals dealing with hormonal imbalances. This therapy is tailored for both men and women experiencing hormone fluctuations, frequently employed to alleviate symptoms linked to peri-menopause, menopause, natural decline in hormones due to age, and low testosterone levels. BHRT offers various administration options, allowing bioidentical hormones to be delivered through methods such as pellets, creams, injections, patches, pills, and gels.

  • A frequent inquiry at our clinic is, "How long will I need to undergo hormone replacement therapy?" It's a valid concern, particularly when considering the addition of a new medication. Our straightforward response is that you can continue with testosterone therapy for as long as you perceive it to be beneficial to your well-being, as long as there are no contraindications.

  • Every 3-4 months depending on the individualized care plan decided. You will need complete laboratory workup on an annual basis, follow up labs 4-8 weeks after initiation of HRT and will require periodic blood work (every 3-6 months) to assess treatment plan and monitor for any concerns. This is also dependent on the patient. Once stabilized and doing well, labs can be done every 6-12 months.

  • The expense of treatment is contingent on an individual's requirements and the specific treatment recommended by your provider. An initial consultation is needed that will encompass a comprehensive medical history and physical examination lasting approximately an hour. Consultations are $75 and will be applied to the first treatment. Laboratory work up will be needed; either covered by patient insurance or cash payment at a contracted out-patient lab facility.

Subsequent costs can fluctuate significantly, determined by the unique treatment plan and its duration. While we do not process insurance claims, numerous patients opt to utilize their Flexible Spending Accounts to cover our health services. It's important to note that insurance companies generally cover expenses related to blood work and diagnostic tests, provided the health provider conducting these procedures is within your coverage network.

The cost for female hormone replacement therapy is $350, priced for each bio-identical pellet insertion, with a standard schedule of every three months. The cost for male hormone replacement therapy is dependent on modality chosen. Testosterone via Pellets is $650 and scheduled every four months. The fee covers both the procedure and comprehensive program management. Testosterone (self administered/provider-taught) Injections is priced at $300 for every 3 months on schedule for monitoring, management and all access to your provider. The cost of the medications and syringes is separate and will vary depending on dosing and each clients individualized care plan.

  • Medical history and a list of medications/supplements that you are taking. You are more than welcome to bring your spouse or significant other if you wish.

  • Regrettably, we are unable to process claims with any health insurance providers. The coverage for lab work typically depends on the specifics of your insurance plan and the network of doctors available to you. Although we cannot assist with filing claims, it's worth noting that flexible spending or health savings accounts (HSA) benefits can be utilized to offset the costs of treatment.

    1. Injections: Testosterone medication is injected either into the muscle or into the subcutaneous fat layer.

    2. Pellets: Medicated pellets are implanted, usually in the outer quadrant of the buttock, providing a time-released delivery of medication.

    3. Topical Cream: Administered typically on a daily basis directly onto the skin.

    4. Orally: taken daily as an adjunct to the regimen decided upon.

  • No significant adverse effects have been observed. Potential minor inconveniences include limited hair growth or occasional acne, both of which are easily manageable.

  • We acknowledge the significant concern many of our patients have regarding misconceptions about testosterone, but it's crucial to recognize that Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) is an FDA-approved treatment for a clinically-recognized disorder known as "hypogonadism." This condition arises when the testes produce insufficient testosterone, leading to adverse health effects. When administered responsibly under the supervision of a licensed medical professional who thoroughly evaluates patients and regularly monitors blood work, TRT is considered a safe approach.

Extensive research on the long-term use of testosterone replacement consistently reveals sustained benefits, with some studies tracking patients for decades. Moreover, the enhancements in body composition and muscle mass observed during TRT may provide additional metabolic protection against chronic diseases for long-term users.

Like any form of therapy, there are inherent risks that can be managed. We closely monitor all our Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) patients for increases in hematocrit, assessing blood thickness, and conduct annual screenings for potential concerns. Furthermore, it's important to note that TRT is not advised for men actively attempting to conceive, as ongoing therapy can reduce sperm count and lead to temporary sterility.
